I'd like to ask you a little bit more about this. Is it possible to
run go32 under Windows in 386 Enhanced mode? It's not clear to me
which of the following is true for running non-Windows programs under
Windows under 386Max:

(1) Windows takes over the memory management role for programs run
under it and prevents access to VCPI and DPMI 1.0. No possibility
    of running go32 under Windows.

(2) Windows takes over some of the memory management role for programs
run under it and prevents access to VCPI but allows access to the
DPMI 1.0 services provided by 386Max. A DPMI-compatible version of
    go32 would run under Windows.

(3) Windows takes over some of the memory management role for programs
run under it and prevents access to DPMI 1.0 but allows access to
the VCPI services provided by 386Max (this seems unlikely to me).
We can run go32 as it is under Windows.

(4) Windows assumes no part in the memory management of non-Windows
programs, so all such programs have full access to the VCPI and
DPMI 1.0 services provided by 386Max. We can run go32 as it is
    under Windows.

If it's not obvious, I'd like to run go32-extended programs under
Windows just like other non-Windows programs.
