Subject: More gcc under Desqview...
Status: O

I posted a while back saying I was having troubles running gcc or any go32
type program under Desqview, but it really was pretty vague...so here is
a more detailed account of the problem:

My setup is:

20 Mhz 386 with 8 Meg of RAM, AMI Bios, 135 Meg HD. I'm running QEMM 5.00
(but the problem still exists with 6.00) and Desqview 2.26, 4DOS 4.0, and
Compaq Dos 3.31. The window it's running in has maximum program size set
to 600K and 4 Meg of Expanded memory availible.

The problem:

The program runs for a few seconds (until it switches to protected mode??) at
which time one of two things happens. Either the computer does a cold boot,
or I get the message "Exception 120 at XXXX". Where the XXXX seems pretty
random (it's never the same twice). I can't figure out a reason as to why it
would do one sometimes and the other other times.

I have tried many things...new version of QEMM, removing as many device drivers
and TSR's as I can, running just under DOS (no 4DOS), but to no avail. Does
anyone have any ideas about this? What is an exception 120? I've tried to
trace through the go32 code, but I don't really have the time to do an in
depth analysis....Surely someone out there has an idea of what to try next...
Thanks...

Ian
