Subject: Running GCC (1.08) under DESQview/X

GO32 1.08 has problems with I/O ports when run under DESQview or DESQview/X.
This manifests itself through the loss of either the keyboard or mouse or the
failure of comm programs. Below is a message from DJ relating to this problem:

Subject: djgpp 1.08 and serial comms under dv/x

Quarterdeck pointed out the bug that causes serial ports to die when
any go32 program is run. I have (theoretically) fixed the bug and I'm
working on a 1.09 release which will contain this fix, and a number of
other recently-posted patches. Please discontinue discussion of the
problem until 1.09 is available.

For those of you who are impatient, try commenting out the lines:
     sub al,bl
     add al,8

just before the label "no_move" in mswitch.asm. Other changes may be
required - my fix has lots - but I leave that as an excersize for the
reader :-)
