In the COFF version of binutils, I found the following
*emu* options were available for *ld*:
go32
i386coff (bnu22bn-coff.zip's ld supports go32 & i386coff)
i386aout
i386bsd (binutl22-fix.zip's ld supports all)
(I presume binutl22-fix.zip is better than binutl22.zip.)
Anyway, what are differences of these emulations?
What is the default?
Why do we have these types of enulations?
Which one requires less DPMI memory if run under QDPMI, 386MAX, or Windows?
Which one results in faster executables?
Which one results in smaller executables?
... ... ...
(A note: bnu22bn-coff.zip's other exe files except ld.exe
seem to be just GO32.EXE.
E.x. AR.EXE is not GO32.EXE/or/STUB.EXE + AR(a.out).)
Thanks in advance.
Also thanks to people (surely including DJ Delorie)
who maintain such a wanderful thing...
