Did you try no driver at all, i.e. the default VESA driver ?
  SET GO32=nc 256

The default VESA driver should work on all new graphics cards.
If not, you could get a copy of UNIVBE??.ZIP from Simtel (GRAPHICS subdir).
This shareware program provides VESA 1.2 support for most chipsets.

(Eli, maybe you could add a reference to UNIVBE*.ZIP in the FAQ ?!?)
