My sound card (SB-comp 16bit Telsnd) also defaults to IRQ 11, and that causes problems when trying to run games compiled by such inferior things as Watcom (Doom, Descent, etc). I think the extender or compiler has trouble letting programs access IRQ's higher than 7 or 9.
