I was referring to the last GCC 1.x release - and it's been so long I don't 
remember what it was.  Sometime around 1990?  But that was on Unix and VMS 
iron - and trying to port my code from those systems to DOS is what got me 
started with DJGPP - around the 1.07 or 1.08 timeframe.  Back when a 486 was 
a really fast machine, challenging the $100K+ systems.
