Doesn't WinXP resize the console for DOS apps? It probably assumes
80x25 or 80x50 for compatibility. The OP said, "what I essentially get
with all djgpp products is a temporary 50-line mode (all my consoles
have 9999 lines and 80 or 132 columns)."

What size console do you use, Eli? (Typically I use 80x25 with rare
change to 80x50 if really needed.)

But maybe I'm wrong (it's just a quick thought) ....
