Well. I'm also afraid that the same limitation will "kill" DJGPP port of 
GCC.

It is still possible to compile GCC-4.6.2 as native compiler (with -O0, 
-O1 and -O2 building GCC fails due to
the mentioned problem, with -Os it still is possible). It is rather 
likely that it may not be possible any more
for GCC-4.7.0 when such will be released.
