I know there are versions of PDFTEX(W2C), OCTAVE, R-console,Maxima that run
on plain-text bash unix shells. I one case asking for a plot said that part
was not installed. Cool. Maybe I'm just an old codger (59) but are there
pure-dos versions of such software?

I have an old MS-DOS generic (no GUI) machne used 1985-95 and I haven't used
it since y2k, but am kinda nostalgic. Plus I can see reasons for it in the
future.
