If you could measure temperature of a piece of board laid on the heater
with a thermocouple like Levente's heater controller, you'd have good temperature profiles
and could use industry standard temp profiles to do it.  Solder mfrs like Kester and
Nordson EFD specify heat soak profiles for good results, and the do so separately from
particular machines.
