The gschem/pcb tools do not take advantage of multi-core. Your money is better spent on faster graphics and higher GHz, I think. If you do go multi-display, with Linux at least, make sure your card has one GPU and not two or you'll suffer X performance. I have four monitors and it took a while to find a card that worked well (ATI Radeon HD 6870).
