If, instead, you were to contribute to the project, perhaps things would be different. We've had a lot of people complaining and a few people valiantly contributing. This is not how you encourage progress. The people complaining need to stop talking and start doing. Really, if a mailing list is stopping you from checking the code out of the git repo and working on it, you have a problem.
