For dots, use a filled circle, menu Add->Circle, then edit it.

For arrows, use Path to make the arrow head, Add->Path,
for nicer arrows use latest lepton-schematic.

For symbols with arrows at the pin, look at
 http://aspodata.se/git/openhw/share/gschem/_semiconductor/can_tranceiver.sym
the arrows are by telling the program
 http://aspodata.se/git/openhw/pdftosym/symtopin.pl
to make them, see
