Subject: DIFF's

Hello all,

another dumb question! what are DIFF's? there's a subdirectory in the 
DJGPP directory which is full of DIFF's... i understand that DIFF's are 
used to patch source, right? but if the compiler already has maintenance 
releases, why would patching source be needed?
