The problems using the `pow' functions are due to the
buggy implementation of the fyl2x 80387-instruction in e16.cc.
This instruction is used in libsrc/m/exp.s (line 82, function _pow) 
I did send a patch (and some explanation) to this mailing-list. 
If somebody missed it, please let me know.
