You need 1.08, which includes the appropriate DOS service.

gcc-2.2.2 comes with it's own documentation.  djgpp 1.07 comes with
documentation, but doesn't cover these kinds of questions.  It is
incorrect to combine the version numbers to get "gcc dos 2.2.2" and
expect to be talking about the extender.
