Subject: 64K-color graphics

After all the excitement about 64K-color graphics: sorry if this is not the
right place to ask, but: please what is the name if the standard coding system
used to transmit 64K-color graphics (like *.PCX is for 16-color graphics as
produced by Windows Paintbrush)? Do you know any good Paintbrush-style
packages that I could use to produce 64K-color graphics?
