I figured these would be mutually exclusive.
I like this method of separate power and device symbols so much, I will 
start using it for all my future work.  It certainly does make the 
design clear and is more versatile.
Thanks for the links.  I will check them out.  It might be a good thing 
to change the symbol library packaged with gEDA/gschem to reflect this 
method.

BTW: The example links were "not found".
