This public release is long overdue, and prompted by a discussion I had at FOSDEM with Bert and Rob Spanton. I have found this code useful for converting vendor libraries (for example Wurth Elektronic https://www.we-online.com), and have made extensive use of their parts due to the huge convenience of a big footprint library - complete with mostly decent 3D STEP models. I don't have a huge amount of time to work on this - so I'm putting it out there as is in the hope it is useful to others. I have placed the code here: https://github.com/pcjc2/openaltium/tree/master/libopenaltium Give me a shout if you need a hand figuring out how to use it (I might need to remind myself!). Hi guys,

I'm releasing some cod= e I wrote for opening / converting Altium libraries to gEDA symbols, PCB fo= otprints and extracting the 3D STEP models within.

This public= release is long overdue, and prompted by a discussion I had at FOSDEM with= Bert and Rob Spanton.

I have found this code useful for conver= ting vendor libraries (for example Wurth Elektronic https://www.we-online.com), and have made extensive use = of their parts due to the huge convenience of a big footprint library - com= plete with mostly decent 3D STEP models.

I don't have a huge amo= unt of time to work on this - so I'm putting it out there as is in the = hope it is useful to others. I have placed the code here:

https://git= hub.com/pcjc2/openaltium/tree/master/libopenaltium

Give me a shout if you need a hand figuring out how to use it (I might ne= ed to remind myself!).

Peter
