It's because I missed that gschem/src/gschem_change_notification.c has a function ("fam_event") with a parameter whose type is defined in fam.h. You should be fine using Nick's patch until I fixed this. I don't recommend applying it when using FAM (or gamin), though, because sizeof(enum FAMCodes) isn't necessarily equal to sizeof(int).
