Seems to work here.  Are you sure you are getting the right go32?  At what
point does it crash?  Do you get to the bat file?  My test program just
prompts for a string to pass to system, calls system and then quits.  I've
also only run it under dpmi.  It appears that my suggested change to
exphdlr.c was installed, so if it still doesn't work, I'm at least partially
to blame.
