The fastest way to tell what go32 thinks about memory is to ask it. Just run "go32". If it says you don't have much memory, compiles will be slow. Fiddle with the emm386 parameters until go32 says it has a meg or more of memory, then compiles will go fast. I think only emm386 "allows" this problem. QEMM always seems to be able to find memory for djgpp somewhere.
